Instrument Proficiency Check
Per 14 CFR 61.57(d), an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC) is a focused refresher that helps pilots regain or maintain their instrument flying skills when they’ve become out of currency. During an IPC, pilots will be asked to perform essential IFR tasks—such as instrument approaches, holds, navigation, and unusual attitudes—to ensure you’re confident, safe, and fully prepared to fly in the system again. It’s a supportive, no-pressure way to get back up to standard and enjoy the full privileges of instrument flight.
